Facilities

Our Waters Road building in Catford SE6 was constructed in 2007 and designed with our students in mind. It comprises of general classrooms as well as specialist teaching, work areas, and leisure facilities. It is on two levels with the majority of specialist teaching rooms housed on the first floor. Our purpose built premises and grounds allow our young people to be safe at all times and to flourish in specialist facilities. Our classrooms are large and light and all open out onto outdoor recreation space and gardens. The corridors are wide, there are two lifts as well as stairs leading to the first floor and the building is fully accessible for disabled people. Site and building entrance and exit routes are completely secure with swipe card access for staff and controlled access via reception for visitors. Likewise within the building, in order to keep our students safe there are a number of areas that are swipe card access only.

Our facilities include

  • A Learning Support base to support the learning of those students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • An Intervention base  to enhance the learning of students requiring additional support. Students can be referred to the base and receive support ranging from reading and communication interventions to well-being and self esteem interventions.
  • An Interactive room which provides multi-sensory activities and interactive activities for Forest and Grove students.
  • Hydrotherapy pool
  • Sports hall
  • Dining area and servery

We are proud of our Waters Road facilities but three areas in particular, the hydrotherapy pool, spacious centrally located library/learning support and our beautiful sensory garden and Interactive rooms for our Grove students. We feel that these areas of the school enhance the experience of our young people allowing them further opportunity to achieve and shine. We are fully aware of the constant necessity to develop and improve the facilities at Greenvale in order to meet the sometimes changing needs of our young people.

Waters Road facilities are owned, managed and maintained by a private company called Equans as part of a Private Finance initiative (PFI). In

Our Mayow Road building was only completed in August 2022 and designed to compliment our Waters Road site. It too has general classrooms as well as specialist teaching, work areas, and leisure facilities. It is on two floors and has a small bespoke area for our students on the Glade pathway. This area allows these young people to move between rooms and facilities independently but separately from Key Stage 5. The Glade students also access the specialist rooms on the first floor of the building. Our grounds surround the building and offer opportunities for relaxation and leisure but ensure our young people are safe at all times. Two staircases and lifts ensure that the building is fully accessible for disabled people. Site and building entrance and exit routes are secure.

Mayow Road building is maintained in house by our facilities team.

Our facilities include

  • An interactive room for our Glade students.
  • A Sports hall
  • Dining area and servery
  • A Sensory garden
  • A school gardening area where our young people can develop horticulture skills.
  • A fully accessible library than incorporates an ICT suite.
  • Small group rooms and meeting rooms located around the school.
  • A food technology room.
  • A creative arts room accommodating Music, Art and Drama activities.
  • A Multi-purpose room for intervention groups and physiotherapy groups.
  • Reception area and general office
  • A Medical room.
  • A Teaching preparation area

We are proud of these additional facilities and are keen to support all of our young people to access our local community as an additional part of their learning.

We believe that the transition between our two sites teaches our young people to be resilient and adaptable to change.
